Empowering young women in Zambia

Temweka, Shalom and Ethel are all taking part in a project called Rise Up Girls at their secondary school in the city of Chipata, Zambia.

The girls have taken part in a 16-week programme to learn the practical  skills required to build and manage their own business.

Working in small teams, they develop a new business idea that fills a gap in the market or solves a problem in  their community. They then design, produce, test and market their own products and services.

Giving girls the practical skills and mindset to succeed as entrepreneurs and leaders can transform their lives and their communities.

The project is part of an initiative from player supported charity Theirworld, which has now received more than £18.1 million in funding raised by players since 2015.
