In October, we announced that local charities in Millionaire Street winning areas would share a combined total of £1 million every month. Greenacres Rescue in Pembrokeshire was one of the first charities to benefit, receiving £30,000.
Starting as a small dog rescue centre, it now tends to animals of every species across 28 acres of land. It has taken in more than 15,000 animals since launching in 2008.
The money raised by players will help the charity to cover its extensive vet bills – which can be upwards of £20,000 a month – while looking after more than 250 animals at any one time.
The support also helped fund the surgery of six-legged spaniel pup Ariel, who was abandoned in Pembroke Dock.
Georgina Pearson, manager of Greenacres Rescue, said:
The money meant we were able to give her the chance in life she truly deserves.”
“Ariel is fully recovered from her surgery but continues with physiotherapy. This resilient puppy has overcome incredible challenges and is now ready for her forever family.
