Although lotteries are recognised as low risk for problem gambling, People’s Postcode Lottery is committed to protecting the millions of people who play. It adheres to the Postcode Lottery Group’s code of conduct on responsible play.
People’s Postcode Lottery takes the management and protection of players’ data and personal information seriously. It is ISO27001 accredited, which recognises the highest security standards.
Licensing
People's Postcode Lottery, a trading name of Postcode Lottery Ltd, is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission, the regulatory body for Gambling in Great Britain, under account number 829. We are proud to be part of the Postcode Lottery Group, which operates in Britain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and Norway.
The instantly recognisable Postcode Lottery format is owned by Novamedia/Postcode Lottery Group.
Novamedia receives a licence fee from each Postcode Lottery for the use of its intellectual property rights, including brands and formats. Each lottery’s licence fee is calculated as a percentage of its proceeds.
The fee is used to cover the headquarter costs, which mainly relate to the continued development, and protection of Novamedia’s formats and to finance, set up and market Postcode Lotteries in new and existing countries. Novamedia bears high financial risks in setting up each new Postcode Lottery, and substantial investment is required to bring a local lottery to market and to enable it to offer an attractive prize plan and distribute donations to charities from the start.
In Great Britain, funding is awarded to charities and good causes by twenty Postcode Trusts.
